Wedding Dance Lessons
From our experience, every couple has unique needs, preferences, and schedules, but with enough time, anyone can become a good dancer. Imagine the romance of dancing together for the rest of your lives! We can create a dance experience that is truly one-of-a-kind for you.
Imagine the Possibility
Learning to dance for your wedding is a wonderful gift you can share with your partner. A couple who feels confident and graceful while dancing together will create a cherished memory during their first dance as husband and wife. If you're planning to tie the knot, here are some expert TIPS for mastering your wedding dance:
-
**Don’t wait until the last minute.** As the wedding day approaches, schedules can become hectic. Dance instructors suggest starting four to six months in advance to allow ample practice time, especially for those new to dancing.
-
**It’s okay if you haven’t chosen a song yet.** During your first lesson, we will introduce you to popular dances that most couples use. We can suggest options based on your preferences and skills. If you already have a song in mind, feel free to bring it along!
-
**Be patient while learning.** Dancing is a fantastic stress reliever and a fun date night activity, so try not to put too much pressure on each other.
-
**Avoid teaching your fiancé.** You’ll both have a more enjoyable experience if you allow your instructor to handle the teaching.
-
**Practice in the right shoes.** Wear shoes to your lessons that are similar to those you’ll wear on your wedding day.
-
**Stay consistent with your appointments.** The more frequently you attend lessons, the less you'll need to review during each session.
-
**Aim for at least one lesson per week** to maximize your learning.
-
**Utilize classes and practice sessions.** While private lessons can be comfortable, group classes and parties will better simulate the atmosphere of your reception, and instructors will be available to assist you!
Things to Consider for Your First Lesson…
-
What type of music will you have at your wedding?
-
Will a band or DJ perform your first song?
-
Will there be Mother/Son, Father/Daughter, or bridal party dances?
-
Will your honeymoon include dancing? (Latin or tropical getaway, cruise, etc.)
-
What is the size of the dance floor at your reception?
How many other weddings will you attend this year?
Kind Words from Lovely Folks
I started dancing at Arthur Murray Vancouver believing I wasn’t musical and feeling disconnected from my body. The wonderful instructors helped me change my sense of self. I actually have an ear for music and I’ve started developing a connection with my physical self. This is a great feeling! Peter
No one actually has two left feet. You just haven't had any guidance on how to place them... how many times have you said I wish I could do that... oh they look like they are having so much fun.... well don't just think about it, do it.... it is never too late to find the joy of dancing... call these guys today, you will not regret it. BTW this has to be the nicest group of people you will ever meet in your whole life. Everyone from the instructors and other students, it is an amazing place... and I have not even started talking about one of the most beautiful ballrooms you will dance in.... call them today!! Lori
